In the vibrant landscape of mobile gaming, “King David’s Battles” stands as a testament to my passion for crafting immersive and dynamic combat experiences. Developed at TruPlay Games, this action-packed title captivated players with its strategic depth and thrilling gameplay, earning the distinction of the highest day-1 retention rate on our platform. As the lead designer, I spearheaded the creation of this project, collaborating with a talented team of engineers, artists, and narrative designers to bring our vision to life.
My contributions to “King David’s Battles” were both broad and deep:
Combat Design Leadership: I took the helm in designing the core combat mechanics, guiding the development of a diverse array of enemies, formidable bosses, and an arsenal of weapons, abilities, and gear. This collaborative effort ensured that every encounter aligned seamlessly with the game’s vision, offering players a rich and rewarding experience.
Data-Driven Balancing: To perfect the game’s difficulty curve, I leveraged Excel-based simulations to balance enemy and boss encounters across various player levels. This analytical approach guaranteed that each battle felt challenging yet fair, keeping players engaged from start to finish.
Economy and Progression Systems: I designed and fine-tuned a robust economy system governing player upgrades, gear acquisition, and loot drops. By analyzing player feedback and data, I crafted a progression model that enhanced retention and delivered a satisfying sense of growth and achievement.
Level Design Excellence: I conceptualized and implemented over 20 combat-focused levels, each meticulously crafted to test players’ skills while advancing the game’s narrative. These levels showcased my ability to blend gameplay and storytelling into a cohesive, engaging package.
